Hehehe...like you really would have considered it if someone said, "This race is a tough one!"

Man, I would totally be cheering for you at the end of a race, because I hurt just running to the bus this morning.

I work in accounting. All that nasty food is our department's fault because we eat the grossest, most bad-for-you food in the universe: microwavable "Healthy" Choice salisbury steak and fast food. If only we could just have a staff meeting and set some ground rules, we wouldn't have to treat everyone else to our stupidity by putting up a lot of anonymous signs. And? Yes, we treat our homes the same way. I personally like to throw big chunks of uneaten food down my sink. But - oh! - I have a food disposal. I forget that the bathroom sink doesn't have one. My bad!

I don't know how it is with mountain biking, but with ski races, if someone says 'it's a fun course' you know that you are either going to be terrified to within an inch of your life, or it's REALLY long (or, frequently, both). Of course, they all become 'fun' courses once we are done with the race! *grin. Congrats on finishing, and the 5th place finish - I so could not do what you do!
