Okay, what's the painting on your mantle? It reminds me of van Gogh's "Church at Arles" - also, how do you keep track of your books! I am going to do that so that when I finally graduate from lawschool, I can still feel like my brain is working. With the honkin' Bill Clinton bio as my first book, I doubt I'll even hit 35...do textbooks count if I read the whole thing?

I read 56 (not 57 like I erroneously mentioned in my journal) books in 2004. And I have kids (maybe because I have kids)! You better be coming to babysit this weekend or I will lose my mind -- all your free time is making me jealous and sad. I'll get over it. (slaps face). See? I'm good.

Dude, I said I would babysit and I plan on being there but if you keep throwing your excellent book number in my face I might change my mind. Also free time = spending my entire vacation week painting alone in a tiny dark room. It wasn't a tropical vacation, man. Beagle, the painting was done by a friend of my husband. As for the book list, I just add them to the link as I finish them, otherwise I forget.

Actually, it DOES sound like a tropical vacation! I was able to read that many books because I spent 48.5% of my year breastfeeding and there's not much else you can do but read during that time. I'm sure you'll kick my butt this year as I begin to wrest more control over my physical self.

Amblus, great find on the bikerfreak. I came back and read a few more of your entries and immediately listed you in my must reads. Hopefully more people will wander over and discover that Virginia isn't just for Lovers.

Niiiice! BTW, if you ever have to paint over dark paint again, here's the trick, courtesy of my friend Redneck Geek: go to the paint store and ask for the heaviest base they have in whatever finish you're using. (Base, I am told, is the paint before they add in the color.) That will cover it up nicely, and this is from a man who's worked for a slumlord management company and has had to cover up some really nasty-ass walls. I know this because I asked him last week how to get rid of the big orange stripes that lurk under the heinous paneling in my office. (Orange: cute and cheerful for kitchens, homicidal-rage-inducing in a workspace.)
