Oh gods. I had a boss like that. She'd fire off emails - generally three or four in a row - not really give you any detail on what you were supposed to be doing, and then wouldn't complain to you about your work, but would go complain to everyone else. The woman (I used to refer to her as Psycho Boss) was the biggest bitch on the face of the planet. (This isn't helping, is it? Sorry...) Anyway, what I meant to say was, UGGGH! You have my deepest sympathies. (And I think for the most basic fitness instructor certification, it takes a weekend or two - and then you can from there with it!)

Hey, girl! Wow, it's cool to see you online. :) I had a boss like this once. Very critical, always seemed to find fault with what I was doing, didn't seem to think I had dug deep enough on anything. I don't know if your boss is the same way, but mine liked to push me and see what I could do at first. There was a time (about 2 months) when I was pretty sure I wasn't long for the job, that she would HATE me, and that I wasn't doing well. I was considering quitting before she could fire me. Come my 90 day review, and she sits me down all serious-like, and I'm figuring "OK, here's where I get it - why didn't I just quit?" and she tells me I'm the best employee she's ever had. Wha? I was totally shocked. It changed my perspective, though, and I started to see what she was really doing. Unconventional, and not at all keeping with newfangled management techniques, but in her own way, she respected my abilities and held me to a high standard. The constant corrections and instructions weren't really criticism - she was molding me to her working style, so I would know what she expected on a regular basis, and could anticipate her. Eventually, we formed one of the strongest working relationships I've ever had, and became good friends outside of work, too, something I normally NEVER allow to happen! Sorry for this long post, but I just wanted to offer a different perspective. Your boss may indeed be just a wanker, but try seeing it from this POV for a couple of days, and see if things fit. It may help. Ciao!
